2014 OC Throwdown
The 2014 OC Throwdown is happening this weekend in Costa Mesa, Ca. For some of you that have been around a while, the OC Throwdown needs no explanation. This is the biggest CrossFit competition outside of The CrossFit Games, held annually in Orange County.

The 2014 OC Throwdown is happening this weekend in Costa Mesa, Ca. For some of you that have been around a while, the OC Throwdown needs no explanation. This is the biggest CrossFit competition outside of The CrossFit Games, held annually in Orange County. The event is in its 5th year, growing from a small gym to The Hangar at the OC Fairgrounds, with crowds nearing 3,000 spectators. The event brings in athletes from all over the world and there are 40 athletes who have competed at The CrossFit Games, throwing down this weekend.
CrossFit PB’s first experience with The OCT was in 2012 when we qualified nine athletes, more than any other gym in the country. In 2013, Bryan Boorstein was hired to program the competition and it was our first taste of the big competition scene. Bryan is once again programming the 2014 OCT and he has put together a test that is going crush some of the best athletes in our sport.
Enough with the boring people – let’s talk about Jenn Ryan. This lady is headed up and is about step into the ring against, literally, the most stacked field assembled since the 2013 CrossFit Games. Julie Foucher (2nd 2012), Sam Briggs (1st 2013), Lindsay Valenzuela (2nd 2013), Camille Leblanc Bazinet, Gretchen Kittleberger, Talayna Fortunado, and Alyssandra Pichelli will all be battling it out for the $10,000 prize. Not many people get to see how hard Jenn has worked for the opportunity to be a part of this competition. Waking up and doing morning conditioning, lifting sessions, more conditioning, skill work, and building the confidence between her ears to go face to face with the best in the world. It is an honor to watch this girl train and see how far she can push herself. I cannot tell you how proud we are to watch her compete this weekend. She earned the right to be at The OCT by working through an intense four week qualifier and can now confidently say she is part of this elite group.

Aaron Gardner, Wes Piatt, Ryan Fischer, Tyler Kopacz and Casey Hutnick will all be rocking the CFPB on their chest, and for many of them, this is the biggest comp they have been in. Wes Piatt qualified for The CrossFit Games last year, Fischer has 97” quads and you can follow him on Instagram along with the other 7 million people that follow him. Casey and Aaron are complete badasses that are taking things to a new level this year and have a good chance of making a big name for themselves this weekend.
