The CrossFit Open season is upon us. On February 26, well over 150,000 fitness freaks will enter an online competition called the CrossFit Open. If you are incredibly awesome at fitness, and finish in the top 20 in Southern California, you will advance on to the Regional hosted in Del Mar. But what about the rest of us that have no chance of finishing in the top 20? This year we are introducing an intramural CrossFit Open for the athletes of SDA. We want everyone to enjoy the Open, not focus on what the best in the world are doing, and create an in house competition that everyone can be a part of. So how does it work?

Team Registration

Register for the CrossFit Open at http://games.crossfit.com/
Registration is $20 but our competition is free
If you have an account from previous years, use that one.
If this is your first year, create an account
When it asks for your affiliate, search for “Pacific Beach CrossFit PB”
When it asks for your team, search for “San Diego Athletics 2,” and join our team.

In-House Competition Rules

There must be two Rx division athletes and two Scaled athletes.
One RX Male, One RX Female, and One scaled division male and female
Once you have a team, please send the members to us at admin@sandiegoathletics.com
A custom scoreboard will be created for athletes in the in-house competition
Athletes competing in the RX division will be given their score based on the ranking in the gym.
Athletes competing in the scaled division will be given a score starting after all of the RX athletes.
1. If there are 50 RX athletes and you finish first in the scaled division, you will get a 51
Team scores will be calculated by the total points accumulated.
1. If you take a 5 and 7 in the RX, and 51 and a 55 in the scaled, your score will be 118.
2. The lower the score, the higher your gym placing.
If you have a teammate that does not complete a workout, they will be given a last place in their division

Prizes

There will be a party at the conclusion of the Open.
We will have prizes for 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd place teams.
Some sort of awesome trophy with your names engraved on it. It will be like the Stanley Cup, but for fitness.

We are really excited to have as many of you compete as possible. It is a great time around the gym with a ton of energy. Adding the team competition to the gym will add another element to the fun and we look forward to everyone crushing it over the next couple months.
