Welcome Aboard Neil Halpen
We are pleased to announce the addition of Neil Halpen to our coaching staff. Neil came to us from CrossFit Milford in Connecticut in November of 2014. He slowly integrated himself into an assistant coaching role and helped tremendously with the midday classes. Neil comes with a wealth of knowledge, certifications, and thousands of hours in athlete development, rehab, personal training, and group coaching. We are very excited with this addition to our coaching staff and look forward to his future growth at San Diego Athletics.

Neil holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Bridgeport. He is originally from Southern Massachusetts where he found weightlifting and sport at a very young age. Neil is a former three sport athlete playing football, hockey and baseball an always thrived in Power Lifting during the off season. After many years of traditional workout regimes, Neil found CrossFit in July of 2011 and hasn't looked back since. "I thought I was in good shape just before starting CrossFit, then I did my first WOD and was humbled very quickly. Now I couldn't imagine my life without CrossFit and the CrossFit Community! When it comes to coaching there's no better reward then the look on an athlete's face after they just PR'd a lift, took a minute off their Fran time and of course when they get that first Muscle Up.”
Neil specializes in Olympic lifting and gymnastics and comes from an extensive background of elite coaching and training. He interned then coached under renowned Crossfit and Fitness expert Jason Leydon, the owner and head coach of CrossFit Milford in CT. Neil is well rounded in all facets of sport, nutrition and wellness and is looking forward to helping the SoCal community achieve their fitness and nutrition goals.
